ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif sent a legal notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, a private news channel reported on Friday.
The PTI chief had alleged that Javed Sadiq was Shahbaz’s frontman and presented ‘papers’ that claimed contracts leading to Rs 26 billion in commission were awarded to this influential person. The documents showed contracts and consultancy details worth Rs 480 billion including Rs 26.55 billion commissions were received by Sadiq’s management firm.
Addressing a press conference, the chief minister said that Imran Khan had previously alleged the amount of Rs 35 billion but was unable to provide any evidence. Therefore, he (Shahbaz) would not reply to him (Imran) this time and would instead sue him for defamation, he said.
Advocate Mustafa Ramday sent a legal notice on behalf of the chief minister that states that Imran Khan made false allegations against Shahbaz regarding Sadiq, which questioned his credibility. It was also stated that Sharif family and the supporters of PML-N are extremely offended by the tall claims made by the PTI chief.
Shahbaz demanded Imran to take his accusations back and apologise, or else he will file an appeal before the court claiming Rs 26 billion in damages and will file a criminal case against him.
