CHITRAL: The building of the primary school situated 13000ft above sea level close to Tajikisitan border in Chakar Village of Broghil Valley is in extremely shabby condition and lacked education facilities which totally negates claim of the PTI-led coalition government of making improvement in the education system.
There is only one primary school in Chakar village and the building is about to collapse as its walls and floors are broken while the students preferred to play on the snow instead of attending classes in the school. The village is most of the time in a year surrounded by the snow and the life started coming to normalcy, as snow started melting in July and August.
Sources said that there is no washroom and drinking water facility in the school. A student of the school Aslam Beg said the contractor had brought some pipes but left the work incomplete.
Sources said the teachers usually did not come to school and one teacher take classes of six different grades. No officer of the Chitral Education Department or any official of independent monitoring team ever visited this school in the valley.
It is learnt that though this school has been built for boys but the number of female students are more than the boys as there is no other school in the 50-kilometres of radius.
The villager’s main source of income comes from selling of milk, yogurt, cheese of ‘Yak Cow’, a kind of wild cow with long hairs on its body. The waters in most parts of the Chakar Village get frozen round the year. The horses are the only means of transportation in the valley.
The correspondent who visited the valley observed that there was no road, school, college, electricity, telephone, communication and other basic amenities of life in the said valley in this 21st century.
The villagers who mostly traveled on horses demanded of the government to construct a road in the valley for the facilitation of the tourists besides construction of a hospital and provision of electricity.
The majority of the villagers of the valley have not seen vehicle, telephone, mobiles, computer, laptop and other modern gadgets and living 200 years behind the present era.
