ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that Pakistan wanted to promote trade with regional countries and was maintaining good economic relations with Iran.
Talking in a private news channel programme, he said Pakistan and Iran were cooperating in many sectors, including agriculture, industry and energy. He said that Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI) and CASA projects would also help connect the regional countries with one another.
The minister said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a landmark project that would provide access to many countries to Central Asia. Replying to a question, he said that all the provinces would get maximum benefit from the CPEC as it was a mega project for the country and region.
Ahsan said that he would soon meet with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and members of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly regarding the CPEC although the federal government had already removed their reservations on the project.
