ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high level meeting here on Monday to review the progress of National Action Plan (NAP), internal security and border management.
It was decided in the meeting to raise 29 new wings of Civil Armed Forces. It was also decided that the NAP Implementation Committee, Monitoring Task Force, would be headed by the National Security Adviser retired General Nasser Khan Janjua.
The committee would include interior secretary, NACTA director general, all provincial chief secretaries, IGPs and some secretaries and an additional security of the PM office as well. They would also be assisted by a representative from each of the intelligence agencies while the military would be represented by the DG military operations.
The participants of the meeting included Inter Services Intelligence Director General Lt General Rizwan Akhtar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security Naseer Janjua, Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
This is the third high level meeting chaired by PM Nawaz that focuses on security. Kast week he chaired two meetings that pertained to the implementation of the NAP with the country’s top-level civil and military leadership. This latest meeting came a week after the deadly Quetta Civil Hospital bombing which killed more than 70 people and injured scores of others.
